![]() By Chris Mabry Last night the 2020 Indoor Football League season kicked off between the Quad City Steamwheelers and the Cedar Rapids Riverkings. After last years heated matchup on March of 2019 showed that even though the rivalry is young, it's very intense. Let's begin with the Steamwheelers. E.J. Hillard returned as starting quarterback for the Quad City after an impressive 2019 that just saw them falling short of making the playoffs. Last night they started off. strong by beginning the game with a 40-yard kick return for a touchdown. The scoring didn't stop there. The Quad City Steamwheelers continued to score tallying a total of 54 points. Hillard only missed four passes, passed for 125-yards and rushed for 47-yards for three touchdowns. The Quad City Steamwheelers next game is at home against the Arizona Rattlers. That game is on March 21, 2020 at 7:05 PM CT on YouTube. Now let's talk about the home team Cedar Rapids Riverkings. With new owners and a brand new head coach in Victor Mann, who previously coached the Texas Revolution of the CIF he hopes to lead the River Kings to the promiseland. In the first three quarters of the game, Cedar Rapids struggled to score falling behind fast. In the Fourth quarter they tried to rally back from behind but continued to go nowhere. They got illavised penalties at the absolute wrong time. Derrick Bernard, the Cedar Rapids River Kings quarterback struggled last night going 9-23, 74 Passing Yds, 45 rushing yards, two passing touchdowns, a rushing touchdown, and an interception. The Cedar Rapids Riverkings play their next game on March 14, 2020 at 8:05 PM CT against the San Diego Strike Force on the road. This game can be seen on YouTube.
