By AFT StaffAmerican West Football Conference has added another franchise, bringing in the Sacramento Spartans.
The addition of Sacramento moves the AWFC to five teams for the league's inaugural season. The Spartans will join the Idaho Horsemen, the Reno Express, the Tri-Cities Fire and the Wenatchee Valley Skyhawks in the Pacific Northwest-focus league. Sacramento has struggled in the last few years, mainly due to lack of nearby opponents and a reliable venue. The team announced on their website that they will be working with the Jackson Sports Academy to make those facilities ready for play. With the stability provided by the AWFC, Sacramento looks to celebrate football again. The Spartans are owned by Meselech Adamu and Rodney Bryant. Arnold Laws, Jr. is their head coach.
