Recent moves have been made by teams in Champions Indoor Football (CIF) and the Indoor Football League (IFL). A press release was made by the Indoor Football League, stating the acquirement of two CIF teams. The Bloomington Edge and West Michigan Ironmen have officially left the CIF to join the IFL. The Edge will make their return to the IFL after playing in the IFL from 2009-2012. As far as the West Michigan Ironmen, they move to their 3rd league in three seasons after their conception in 2015. Additionally, the Wichita Falls Nighthawks have officially left the IFL to join the CIF for the 2018 season, stating the CIF will help cut down on travel costs.

The Edge are based in Bloomington, Illinois. They are currently a member of the Indoor Football League (IFL). Originally named the Bloomington Extreme, the team was a member of United Indoor Football (UIF). The team joined the IFL in 2009 during the UIF and Intense Football League merger. They ended up leaving the IFL for the Champions Professional Indoor Football League (CPIFL) in 2013, and in 2015 the CPIFL merged with the Lone Star Football League (LSFL) to create the CIF, where Bloomington didn't follow, instead they joined X-League Indoor Football (X-League). Following the 2015 season, the Edge joined the CIF. On September 12th 2017, the Edge re-joined the IFL after playing in the league from 2009-2012. The Edge play their home games at the Grossinger Motors Arena, a 7,000 seat venue located in the heart of Bloomington.
West Michigan Ironmen
The Ironmen are based in Muskegon, Michigan and play their home games at L.C. Walker Arena, a 5,100 seat venue. The team joined American Indoor Football (AIF) in 2016, but the AIF ceased operations following the 2016 season, leaving the Ironmen without a league. They joined CIF for the 2017 season, but for the 2018 season they'll be playing in the IFL.
Wichita Falls Nighthawks
The Nighthawks are based in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Nighthawks made the move to the CIF on September 12th 2017. The team left the IFL, stating they wanted to cut back on travel costs. The team plays its home games at Kay Yeager Coliseum, a 7,380 seat venue. The Nighthawks first joined the indoor football world by joining the IFL as an expansion team in 2015. The franchise started as an American football team that played in different semi-pro outdoor leagues before joining the IFL.
