The Columbus Lions showed off just how lethal their offense can be in their lopsided victory over the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. The Lions won a big road game and are now at the top the NAL standings with their 77-38 victory. Mason Espinosa had a career day for the Lions and the defense scored as well. Mason Espinosa had a great game and threw for over 300 yards and eight touchdowns. Espinosa also ran for a touchdown to give him nine total touchdowns on the day. The receiving corps had a huge game as well, including last week’s hero Durron Neal. Neal hauled in four touchdowns, Jarmon Fortson caught two and Tristan Purifoy caught two as well. Jeremy Johnson joined in on the fun as well. The former Auburn Tiger threw a touchdown and caught one. He also took over the long-snapping duties during the game. The offense showed up big in this game and the Lions kept their foot on the gas pedal until the clock struck zero. The Lions defense displayed their physicality and toguhness on Sunday night. The Lions were flying around the field, making great tackles to stop the Steelhawks in their tracks. The defense was also able to put some points up on the board themselves. The Lions forced a safety and four total fumbles. Deylan Buntyn recovered one of those and scampered for five yards to score a touchdown for the Lions defense. The Lions did one of the hardest things in any sport, go on the road and come back home with the win. Also, the Massachusetts Pirates lost to the Carolina Cobras, which now gives the Lions sole possession of first place in the NAL. The Lions return home for a bye week before traveling to Jacksonville for their next game.
