The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks have announced their fourth head coach in franchise history. The team has hired former AFL and AF2 Coach Danton Barto. Barton most recently was a scout for the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. In 3 seasons coaching in the AFL, one with the Las Vegas Gladitiors in 2007, and two seasons with the Command in KC from 2011-2013, Barto posted a 11-41 record. Before he went to Las Vegas, his final three seasons with Memphis in af2 went 10-6, 13-3 and 11-5, including an ArenaCup title.
The downfall of the Steelhawks has been evident since Chris Thompson moved on to be the head of football operations for the Albany Empire of the Arena Football League. Kohler was announced the head coach of the team for 2018 only weeks before the season started, as he moved up from the defensive coordinator position. This past week, Bob Kohler stepped down from his coaching duties. In his three games as head coach, Kohler and his Steelhawks went 0-3 on the year, with many evident issues taking place. James Parham was named the team’s interim head coach, until the new coach was announced.
