With almost a month until the 2023 Indoor Football League regular season gets underway, the IFL has announced some rule changes.
#1 is the "Duce" Rule:" Previously, the Duce Rule was only available in the 4th quarter of the game. Now, teams can take advantage of this rule and use it anytime they want. If you are unfamiliar with the rule, it is when the kicker kicks the ball through the uprights for 2 points. This rule was originally used in the National Arena League (NAL).
#2. Rule change number 2 is a additional rule to the duce rule. If the ball hits the goal post then the ball is considered live and any team can take control of the ball.
#3 Positive yardage during the end of the game is eliminated. Basically, teams can now take a knee and go into "victory" formation ending the game.
#4 As soon as the previous play is completed and the ball is spotted, the 25 second play clock will begin.
